Lucie Houdkova

I see designing new jewellery as an experiment and play with material, I try to go to the limits of its possibilities. In recent years, my inspiration has been based especially on natural organic forms and structures. I try to find a certain kind of harmony and balance in my work. The main idea for jewelry from serie called "Chua" is coming from chinese applied art “carving in red lacquer”. Reflects flowers ornament. Symbolism of red color is also very important it should scare away evil spirits and bring joy and happiness.
I work with paper tapes from which I make variously twisted shapes which combine to create jewelry. I prefer manual work then machine. Individual shapes I model by my hand as a sculptor models his sculptures. Entire workflow is very important for me. It is like meditation in which I try to revive my ideas.
