Christoph Straube

These jewellery pieces are reminiscent of sketch-like ink drawings by means of finely painted black enamel lines on a white background coating. Traces from the work process like slight colour changes and enamel dust are left deliberately to allow each piece to maintain its graphical character. By a gradual change of drafted perspective an illusionary three-dimensional space is created.

The basic shapes which I use in making these jewellery pieces confine myself in terms of form-giving and functionality. Though, in my work as a jewellery maker I appreciate these constraints, because through exploring the possibilities of perspektive and proportion I can experience creative freedom even more.
